Slower pace, simpler variations of postures and practice. Little or no previous yoga experience required. Yoga is a physical exercise but this level is suitable for increasing strength and flexibility and learning the various postures. A basic level of fitness is suggested.
- Introduction to Hatha Yoga: Have you wanted to try yoga but do not know where to start? These classes will be taught at a slower pace and allow you to explore the basics of the asanas and help you build body awareness and focus.
-Purna Yoga: Purna Yoga is another style of hatha yoga practice. Purna Yoga incorporates alignment-based asana, heart-centered meditation and healthy living practices to help individuals achieve wholeness, healing and the fulfillment of life’s purpose. Classes start with a brief centering to focus the mind and open the heart. A gentle warm-up loosens your body and gets your heart rate going. Each class is customized to fit the needs of the students in the room, and
includes poses that build strength and flexibility and work the heart and lungs.Each class has a special theme and a chance to refine your movement. During class, the focus is on feeling the effects of the exercises in the body, rather than trying to force yourself into a perfect pose. Then, after having actively engaged your body, you enjoy deep relaxation and a centering.
-Karma Yoga: This is a multi-level hatha yoga class held every Friday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and costs only $5.00. Teachers donate their time and donations support Heart Centre Yoga's "yoga scholarship fund" which supplements successful scholarship applicants with lower priced yoga classes.
-Yoga for Teens: This class is for girls and guys ages 13 - 17 and is specifically designed to support the developing body and mind through yoga practice. Our teacher specializes in teaching to teens. A great way to meet other teens and have peer support while exploring yoga!
