Heart Centre Mid Summer Salutations - August long weekend & survey

Greetings and "salutations",

Someone must have been doing a few extra Surya Namaskar (salutations to the sun) to bring about all this fair weather!  If you're feeling a little frustrated by this hot dry spell and feel it's getting the better of you, remember that it's easy to get caught up in the day to day and to mope or gripe about it being too hot (just as the spring/fall/winter can be too wet or too cold). Try applying yoga and  'simply bein the moment, whatever it brings. Life changes daily, and we can either accept what comes our way with grace or we can dig in with resistance and create suffering for ourselves because things aren't what we think they should be A few other tips: take off your shoes to walk on the earth or a cold floor, sip lots of cool water, eat cooling foods like fresh veggies or some melon (or a "popsicle"!) or treat yourself to an extra savasana at home in front of a fan. Embrace all life offers everyday.

Thank you to all who contributed to the Camp Moomba Yogathon. The event was held under sunny skies and raised over $81,000.00 to send Canadian children impacted by HIV/AIDS to summer camp.  www.campmoombayogathon.com

Our Friday night Karma yoga classes are doing great, thank you to all who have dropped in and showed your support. There won't be a Karma class this Friday July 31st as it's the long weekend but Shannon will be leading off the August line-up on the 7th, Sara Blaney (one of our wonderful sub teachers) on August 14th and on August 21st, another special guest teacher, Prabhat, will be leading the class. These classes are by donation (suggested minimum is $5). We look forward to having you join in.

Not only do we create and support community building efforts here at home, we help support Shanti Uganda www.shantiuganda.org.  Shanti Uganda was co-founded by Heart Centre Yoga's co-founder, Natalie Angell. Many of you enjoyed Natalie's classes at Heart Centre (and she continues to teach some of our prenatal yoga classes). The Shanti Uganda Society requires an emergency transport vehicle to transfer birthing mamas with complications from The Shanti Uganda Birth House to the nearest hospital (a LONG bumpy drive through the bush). Shanti Uganda needs $15,000 by Sept 2009 to purchase this life saving vehicle. Please make a $15 donation towards their "$15 for $15,000" campaign to help them achieve this goal! Your $15 will help reduce maternal & infant mortality rates in Luwero District in Uganda! Follow this link to donate http://totallyspagirl.myshopify.com/products/15-for-15-000

Due to high demand (The Heights is going to be bursting with new babies), we've added a second prenatal class on Sunday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with Shannon.  As a result of all the new babes, if you're a new mama and are interested in a Mom & Baby yoga class, please let us know along with best day/time for your schedule and we'll work on creating a class this fall info@heartcentreyoga.ca

Namaste,

Debbie
