Newsletter - October 2009

Greetings,

Ah, the brisk fall weather, and did you see the big harvest moon?  " It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. "   (Alan Cohen)

A BIG thank you to all who contributed to our Open House and Pot Luck and to those who dropped in for free yoga classes on Saturday September 19th. It was great to meet many new people and to mingle in a social atmosphere. We'll do it again soon!

Many of our Heart Centre Yoga teachers (and some of our students) have just come back from the Yoga Pilates Conference held in downtown Vancouver. What a wonderful experience to be able to study with some world renowned teachers and to "top up our yoga tanks" with inspirational teachings. I'm sure you'll enjoy your classes 'extra-well' as we share some of our learnings with you.

"Our Angela" (Angela Kayira, HCY teacher) has recently received her status as an Anusara "Inspired" Yoga teacher. After many, many, many hours of study and practice, Angela has qualified to exacting standards to receive this designation. Congratulations Angela!  Many of you have experienced some of the Anusara teachings as Angela has been studying. We'll be offering Anusara Inspired classes with Angela very soon. Heart Centre Yoga is getting greener. We've converted all of our cleaning systems to more earth-friendly and non-toxic (to people and the environment) products and materials.  We've done away with the sponges for mat-cleaning and have replaced them with microfibre cloths that are embedded with silver fibre - silver is a powerful anti-bacterial agent. Likewise, our cleaning/dusting cloths and floor mops have been replaced with the same microfibre/silver embedded fabrics and no chemicals are being used - only water and essential oils. Here's something you probably didn't know - we only dispose of only one white kitchen size bag of trash every two weeks and our recyling bin is full every week.  If you're interested in learning more about the new cleaning products, see below or talk to Debbie or Ariel.

We also have a nice new Brita water filter ready for service so you can refill your reuseable water bottle at the studio. Once the current supply of bottled water runs out, it will not be replaced.

Lots of new stuff to tell you about...
