Joanna began her journey in alternative medicine in 1997, primarily focused on Western Herbal Medicine. During this time a friend took her to her first yoga class. She was immediately drawn to yoga and started a regular practice. Soon after, Joanna took a detour from her path in herbal medicine as the calling towards yoga was far greater. In 2002, Joanna completed her 200 hour teacher training at Prana Yoga Teacher College. During her training Joanna began teaching teens yoga at BC Children's Hospital in the Specialized Eating Disorders Program and has continued teaching there since 2003. Joanna continues to practice regularly and takes classes & workshops with both local and visiting yoga teachers.

Joanna feels blessed to have yoga in her life. The opportunity to be part of the therapy team in the eating disorders program at BC Children's has helped push Joanna beyond her own limitations. Teaching yoga to teens has been a joy, a challenge and an enriching experience. Drawing from her own personal experiences through life, motherhood and yoga Joanna encourages her students to quieten the inner voice and allow their true nature to shine through.
